Hawzah News Agency- In a message addressed to a commendation ceremony held on Thursday at the Culture Hall of Farabi College in Qom, the president paid tribute to Mahdavi Rad’s role in promoting religious rationality, critical scholarship, and the production of original thought.
“Scientific and cultural service to Islamic Iran finds its true value when it is grounded in religious rationality, methodical criticism, and intellectual creativity,” President Pezeshkian said in his message.
Highlighting Professor Mahdavi Rad’s extensive record of research, teaching, and cultural activity, the president noted that the seminary and university scholar has made a lasting contribution to educating new generations, deepening understanding of religious texts, and expanding the space for free and responsible thinking in the country.
The president described Mahdavi Rad’s academic background in the seminary, combined with his sustained engagement with university scholarship and modern rational approaches, as a clear demonstration of the seminary’s capacity to address contemporary intellectual challenges. He said this approach reflects an effective and thoughtful linkage between authentic religious tradition and the demands of the modern academic world.
According to the message, Mahdavi Rad’s efforts illustrate that religious enlightenment and scholarly criticism emerge from a deep and faithful engagement with the original heritage of revealed knowledge, rather than from superficial or fragmented readings.
President Pezeshkian added that these achievements, together with Mahdavi Rad’s profound familiarity with the sources of Islamic knowledge, reveal a strong commitment to nurturing future generations of scholars and fostering a culture of critical understanding. He described this record as a valuable model for current and future scientific and cultural movements in Iran.
Concluding his message, the president prayed for Professor Mahdavi Rad’s continued health, dignity, and success, expressing hope that his scholarly presence and works will go on illuminating the path of intellectual and cultural development in Islamic Iran.
The ceremony brought together academic and seminary figures to honor Professor Mahdavi Rad’s contributions, underscoring his role as a bridge between traditional religious scholarship and contemporary academic inquiry.
